About us

Our social mission

Threads of Life was born out of a desire to see lasting change in those on the margins of society through dignified and sustained employment.

We partner with an ethical producer whose mission is to bring fresh starts to people in Kathmandu through their not-a-sweatshop manufacturing facility.

Every employee is eligible to receive school scholarships for their children so that the cycle of poverty will be broken for the next generation.

Each time you choose to purchase from Threads of Life you are bringing hope to those from marginalised communities in Nepal. Thank you for your support.

Meet the founder

Fiona writes:

'Since I can remember I have been passionate about traditional textiles which led me to study Textile Design at the Royal College of Art. But textiles in themselves weren’t enough; I wanted to make them into accessories so I had reason to use and enjoy them each day.

When my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes I created a bag to hold the essential testing kit that we needed to have at hand 24/7. Having received positive feedback on this bag from other people living with Type 1 diabetes and also epilepsy, I decided to make these available to all those who want to give their everyday medical kit a stylish and functional new home.

Finding an ethical production partner was the key to this, so I was excited to make contact with an ethical Nepali manufacturer. All of the Threads of Life products are now produced here, so by purchasing our cases and totes you are bringing life to those living on the margins of society in Nepal.

I am excited that the new collection of laptop cases has arrived so more people can have the chance to keep their essentials safe in an ethically made Threads of Life case!'
